Sam & Amanda
Born five minutes apart, Sam and Amanda were the first set of twins to enter the Big Brother house on the popular Channel 4 series in summer of 2007. The girls were a huge hit both with the public and their fellow housemates and were the first housemates to make it into the finals having never received a single nomination from the other contestants.
On the final night, the girls received 39.7% of the overall winning vote but came second to Essex boy, Brian Belo.
The 20 year old twins have spent little time apart in their life and prior to appearing in Big Brother they were studying social care in Manchester, because Sam wanted to be a social worker, Amanda was keen on studying fashion but didn’t want to move to London and be without her sister.
Known for their love of all things pink and girly, ‘Samanda’ as they are now nicknamed by the UK media, could not even begin to imagine how their lives would change after the show, but with a strong fan base backing them the girls have gone from strength to strength and have become the nation’s favorite Big Brother housemates.
On leaving the Big Brother house they landed themselves a record deal with top bosses at Sony BMG. Their first single was a cover of Aqua’s Barbie Girl. In the year that followed, the girls released their own fitness DVD, became the face of beauty and skincare range ‘Young and Pure’, modelled for Naomi Campbell at London Fashion week, took to the catwalk at Clothes Show Live, La Dolce Vita and many more. In the process they were transformed from the cutesie barbie girls to fashion and style icons. They had their own online fashion column on a leading fashion website, their own fashion show on Heat Radio and had a diary column in showbiz magazine Love It.
Remaining popular with the young fans, Sam and Amanda have been invited into Children’s programmes on CBBC and Nickelodeon and have shown a huge amount of support to a number of children’s charities including ‘Teenage Cancer Trust’.
2009 is already looking bright for the bubbly twins as a high street brand have just signed them to become the face of their Valentine’s Day and Easter campaigns, while another high street brand are in talks about them designing their own range for customers.
On top of this, they have been having DJing lessons for the last few months and will be hitting clubs up and down the country over the summer.
