Ex Hollyoaks star Ciara Janson makes her West End debut in New Boy

Best known for playing Nicole Owen for three years in Channel 4’s hit soap Hollyoaks, the beautiful Ciara Janson will make her west end debut in ‘New Boy’, the most talked about west end show of the year.

An adaptation of William Sutclife’s novel, Ciara will be starring alongside the man of the moment Nicholas Holt, first making his mark alongside Hugh Grant in ‘About a Boy’ Nicholas went on to star in ‘Kidaulthood’, ‘The Weather Man’ and then went in to be the star of E4’s edgy teen TV Drama ‘Skins’. Also starring Mel Gideroyc from Mel and Sue fame, this comedienne is sure to bring sharp wit to an already strong cast.
After leaving Hollyoaks Ciara went back into doing voiceover work, which she has been doing since she was 18 months old. She was quickly signed for CBBC series 64 Zoo Lane. Disney were also fans of the young beauty’s voice and she was asked to be the voice of ‘Jo’ from the Famous Five for the Disney Channel’s animated series. Most recently Ciara became Doctor Who’s companion Amy in the talking book series and her work with the hit cult show has taken her all over the world as fans demand she is at the Doctor Who conventions. Over Christmas she took to the stage as Cinderella in Buxton’s pantomime and she is now excited to take to the stage in the West End.
Having graced the pages of January’s issue of leading men’s mag FHM has helped Ciara to prepare for her most revealing role yet.
“I am genuinely excited to be making my West End debut, especially alongside Nicholas Holt, he is such an amazing actor and I feel honored to be working with him. I am really enjoying expanding into and exploring different areas of the industry.” Ciara says.
She continues “It’s such an honour to work alongside actors who have had such fruitful careers within the industry, I am really excited to get my teeth into a role that will be both challenging but equally rewarding”.
About New Boy

Original adapter/director Russell Labey revisits and redirects the simple story of a school boy crush, the power and devastation of which so many of us have experienced and then filed away under ‘adolescent phase’ without perhaps confronting chemical attraction that defines friendship. Mark starts the sixth form knowing that this is his last chance to impress – to be more popular, more obnoxious, the best informed about gynaecology. The mesmerizingly good looking new boy Barry, seems to be having trouble making
friends. Everyone is afraid of him. He could be the perfect ally in Mark’s mission to enhance his social status and finally getting laid!

“Adolescent desire, burgeoning sexuality, loss of virginity and cross-generational sex all deftly handled in a cracking script” The Guardian

" ***** - Fast and Funny" The Scotsman

"The show is very rude and very very funny. It also rings true" The Times

New Boy opens at Trafalgar Studios on 17th March and will run until 11th April.
